“The future is completely open, and we are writing it from moment to moment.” – Pema Chodron

Before access to information was as readily available as it is now, life changed at a more measured, muted pace. But now, our environmental, political, and economic realities shift so rapidly that reacting can be hard. For our children, who we want to be a positive force for change in their communities, the challenges can be even more significant.

The five dimensions of Bloomster’s holistic learning approach can equip pre-adolescent and adolescent students with skills that will help them adapt and appropriately respond to the constant change and achieve their potential, including:

  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: The ability to understand and absorb information is necessary for academic success, but without problem-solving and critical thinking skills, children wouldn’t be able to dig deeper, assess problems, and propose solutions. According to a survey by Reboot Foundation, 95% of Americans believe critical thinking is a necessary skill in today’s world. And as our reliance on artificial intelligence and automation increases, autonomously developing this skill is even more important. Many routine jobs and tasks will become a thing of the past, so children will need dexterity and agility in their approach to life. Bloomster’s emphasis on holistic growth for well-rounded achievement can help develop these skills. By questioning the nature of things, a child can develop the kind of solutions that spring from a deeper comprehension.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Standardized education often focuses on the intellectual aspect of a child’s development, so artistic activities like drawing, acting, and music are forsaken in favor of facts. Unfortunately, because of this, a child’s creativity can be curtailed at a young age.  Creative instinct and innovation alongside it, however, will have a greater stake in the future. As everyday tasks become less common, children will need access to different lenses through which they can see the world. Bloomster courses continually encourage creative, outside-the-box thinking that will forge unique, inventive solutions.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Especially since the pandemic, most of the world has built an understanding of the necessity to deal with change. However, technology, politics, and everything else continually in our periphery make adaptability necessary for successfully managing any and all situations.  According to a 2021 study by McKinsey & Company, people who could adapt were 24% more likely to be gainfully employed. Bloomster helps learners understand the curve and able to shift with external circumstances.
  • Communication and Collaboration:  Few things are more important in life than the relationships we forge with others. And these relationships are built on effective communication, emotional intelligence and collaboration so people can synergistically share their ideas. Bloomster’s diverse student network enables children to engage with different perspectives and collaborate with others, which means learners will take an expansive view of things to reach well-rounded, comprehensive solutions and improve communication.
  • Social and Environmental Awareness:  Whether through the news or social media, the myriad social and environmental issues are impacting the world. We regularly see protest, disruption, and even upheaval from the challenges of this particular time in history. And while the problems may be immense, holistic growth does offers solutions. Through the self-awareness and empowerment this approach champions, children can become natural drivers for change. In understanding their place in it, they will be able to make better choices for themselves and their communities. It may be a small step like using public transit or something bigger like running for office, but whatever a mindful child chooses to do will create meaningful change in the world.

Offer Your Child the Best Future Through Holistic Learning

While no one knows the future, we can guess from the current social climate and information that technological, environmental, and political change and impact will be significant. And this is why being able to adapt, think critically, and propose creative solutions will be necessary skills for success.

By focusing on the five dimensions through holistic growth, a child will be able to achieve self-awareness and empowerment.
