Growing with Resiliance

Course Overview

Resilience is a skill that is vital in today's changing world. Change seems to be inevitable for today's generation as it never was in earlier years. In the current global environment, changes seem to be ever present. But we as humans are more comfortable in routines. Routines enable us to feel safe vis-a-vis change that is looked upon in suspicion. So starts the cycle of anxiety and stress. Resilience is that tool in our toolbox that helps us navigate through these challenges but more than that it helps us thrive. This course is designed to help students not just understand the importance of Resilience as a tool but also how to personalize it and utilize it for their needs.

Module

1

What is 'my scary' challenge?

In this section students will explore the concept of resilience and fear and how it impacts their view and understanding of situations. They will also be introduced to 'mindsets'- our thinking patterns. In this section they learn about growth and fixed mindset and use this understanding to explore their thinking patterns.

Module

2

New is fun?

In this section the students build their resilience tool kit by exploring ideas associated with challenges. Understanding how we view challenges and our response to the same is an important skill in developing resilience as this helps us be more aware of the fears and doubts that hold us back.

Module

3

Uncomfortable

In this section students add the concept of courage and challenging themselves into their resilience toolkit. An major impediment to our growth is not necessarily our circumstances or ability is our own doubts and boxed view of ourselves. Challenging these takes courage and the students get the opportunity to explore their fears and challenge them.

Learning and Growth

Adding to the resilience tool box is the ability to self assess and question your own beliefs. To clearly identify your strengths and look for ways to leverage those even if they are not what is used traditionally. Learning to leverage your strengths rather than focus on what you are not good at - the ability to adapt your strengths is one hallmark of resilience. This is what the students explore in this section.
