Course Overview

Mindfulness can a be a part of your everyday life. From starting your day with a deep breath to ending your day with a short, guided meditation, you can bring moments of reflection and peace to your day. Taking a few minutes a day to take a mindful walk or to savor a meal allows you to slow down, be present, and be less anxious and stressed. In this course, your child will learn simple mindfulness activities and follow short, guided meditations and visualizations that they practice throughout their day. They will also learn how these practices can release stress, allow them to be present, and bring moments of joy.

The Power of Mindfulness

Mindfulness can improve your day-to-day life, expand your awareness, and help you be more kind and compassionate. Learning how to practice mindfulness allows you to shift your thoughts and perceptions, and cultivate more joy and gratitude. In this section, learners experience the power of mindfulness and learn how they can practice it in their daily lives.

Daily Mindfulness Practices

You can practice mindfulness every day. In addition to taking a few moments during the course of your day to be mindful, there are certain activities that you can do to consciously practice mindfulness. In this section, learners will learn about different ways they can practice mindfulness throughout their day.

Mindful Movement

Mindful movement is a way to practice being present in your body and connecting to yourself. You can practice this by stretching mindfully, tuning into how your physical body feels, or even through activities like tai chi or yoga. In this section, learners will learn about and experience different mindful movement activities.

Releasing Stress and Tension with Meditation

Meditation and mindfulness are tools that you can use when you are in a challenging moment. Practicing both can also help to relieve stress and tension and allow your mind and body to relax. In this section, learners will explore how to use meditation and mindfulness to relax and release stress.

Meet Course Creator, Mariel Reyes

Mariel is an engaging and experienced yoga and meditation teacher with over a decade of experience. She holds a 200-hour Meditation Teacher Training certificate from The Three Jewels, one of the most well-known meditation studios in New York City. As a seeker and student of meditation, she has taken part in meditation retreats from upstate New York, all the way to an ashram in India. Trained in the Tibetan Buddhist lineage, she brings her knowledge and understanding of ancient meditation teachings and practices and fuses them with simplicity and accessibility. She encourages children to be playful, curious, and inquisitive when exploring mindfulness and meditation. In addition to her expertise in meditation, yoga, and wellness, Mariel has more than 15 years of experience teaching children of all ages.
