Module

1

Preparing for Success

This module introduces the learner to resilience by introducing aspects of resiliency, how to prepare for success and how to recover from failure. The students begin by discovering what motivates them, how to set achievable goals, how to problem solve, make decisions, and ultimately how failure is important in the growth process. They learn about a school-wide project on developing resiliency and are provided this background in preparation for that.

Module

2

Focusing on You

This module is all about the individual. The learner will discover how to identify and name their emotions as well as emotion regulation strategies. They begin to consider aspects of self-care, including rest, relaxation, exercise, and endorphins. They also begin the practice of applying these skills to encourage positive rather than negative outcomes and feedback loops. Finally they meet as a group to initiate a project planning conversation and review what they have learned so far about resilience.

Module

3

Focusing on Others

The learner will now begin to build on their resiliency foundation. They have focused inwardly on how to regulate their intrapersonal habits and behaviors and now are developing their interpersonal skills. This module hinges on recognizing the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships and how to assess our personal relationships based on those criteria. They also begin exploring the benefits of giving back to the community through volunteering their time to serve others.

Module

4

Personal Growth

The learner will focus on aspects of who they are as a person and why. Why do they do or think the things they do? What has led them to this development? How does this affect their interactions with others? They are introduced to strategies for Self-Discovery such as mindfulness and journaling to lead them on the path to Self-Awareness. They begin to focus on caring for themselves and others, learning how to rise to challenges and cope with unexpected and unwanted changes. Finally they work toward embracing their heritage and faith, developing pride in their community and belief systems and acknowledging not all share the same perspectives and that is okay. Each are steps to be taken on the path to Resilience
