Course Overview

Physical training is a crucial aspect of soccer that plays a vital role in elevating the players performance on the field. In this introductory class we will explore the various components that contribute to a player's fitness and agility. From cardiovascular endurance to muscular strength, speed, and flexibility. We will also cover training regimens for injury prevention and recovery techniques. As part of the 4 pillars of soccer you will leave this class knowing what is needed to become a competitive, positive, and well rounded player.

Soccer Pillars

The full development of an athlete requires more than just physical stamina. This section will cover all the basics to become a high level soccer player. No matter the team or league you play for, the skills covered in this section will give you all the tools to develop and enhance your skills.

Soccer Skills Basics

The basic skills of soccer include dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, heading, and defense. Practicing the fundamentals of soccer are important to any skill level of an athlete. From novice to elite, all athletes can benefit from perfecting their skills. Along the way you will learn about these basics, including teamwork, and how to have fun.

Speed and Agility

From ladder drills to hip circles and more, this section will provide insight on the basic tips and drills you can use to develop a training plan. This plan can include some or all of the exercises the athletes and coach Jacob covered.

Power Training

Power training involves exercises and workouts designed to enhance explosive strength and speed. It often includes plyometrics, core exercise, resistance, and weightlifting. In this section Coach Jacob, along with our real life demonstrations by Jared and Adam, will be sharing details on power training. You will immerse yourself in various exercises and most importantly learn about rest and recovery, another essential part to your training.

Meet Course Creator, Amber Arevalos

As a certified personal trainer, exercise therapist, nutritionist, and a kinesiology degree, Amber has been working with students in numerous ways for over 10 years. Her areas of expertise include sports training, nutrition and wellness classes, cooking classes, summer programs, PE/ Adaptive PE. Her background includes working in school settings and one on one to develop the students abilities. I enjoy being part of a young child’s life teaching them skills and life lessons that will help them grow into happy healthy adults!
