Course Overview

In Level 1, students are introduced to the concept of forgiveness. Students explore what forgiveness means, diving into how it looks and what it sounds like. Students also learn about the steps to take to forgive others and to receive forgiveness. This level summarizes the benefits of forgiveness, helping students to realize the importance of forgiving others and receiving forgiveness.

Introduction to Forgiveness

In this section, learners review the basics of forgiveness. The course teaches learners what forgiveness really means and gives examples of times when forgiveness may be needed. It also explores what forgiveness looks like - when forgiving yourself and others. The course challenges learners to apply the principles of the section using life-like scenarios to show understanding of the content being taught.

Forgiving Others

Section 2 teaches children about forgiving others. It's important for children to understand when forgiveness may be needed. Once they recognize the need for forgiveness, learners can learn to follow the process to forgive others, building skills to forgive others through words and actions.

Receiving Forgiveness

In Section 3, learners think about forgiveness from the opposite perspective, from the viewpoint of the person seeking forgiveness. This section helps learners to consider how they respond to events where they have made a mistake and angered or hurt someone. Learners consider the reflection and actions they can take in order to seek forgiveness from others in efforts to make amends and steps towards reconciliation. The section also helps learners to understand how to forgive themselves and move forward in a positive way, so as to not make the mistake again.

How Forgiveness Helps

Section 4 teaches learners about all of the different ways that forgiveness is beneficial. The section dives into physical, psychological and health benefits from both seeking and offering forgiveness. By completing this section, learners will understand how forgiving others, no matter how close we are with the person, can have lasting effects on our own life.

Meet Course Creator, Kerry Wadsley

Following a degree in Elementary Education at Penn State (USA), I taught at The Elms School, UK for over 10 years, teaching students from 0-11 years. I taught in Key Stage 2 as well as being the Special Educational Needs Coordinator at the school. In 2016, I gained a Master’s in Education from the University of Nottingham (UK). My passion lies in helping students to achieve their potential and eliminating any barriers to learning.
